Most tourist envelopes/folders had this imprinted short history of the places. I find them most stylish and cool. My Nana – Narayan Rao Kulkarni was quite an ace at creating short content at a glance and also creating niche merchandise with endorsements in that era when these were not even talked about or in vogue.

He was truly ahead of his times. No wonder we still keep finding his works, merchandise being sold online by antique collectors. I came across a set on Facebook recently.
I think old photographs which are physical primary evidence always survive and since he had put his name and copyright stamps, he did ensure his works will stay on and will be valued.
I regret not meeting him. Knowing from these snippets makes me more curious. This original set of photos was sold at 2 rupees only. I wonder how much profit he made, given that he created these foldable envelopes which are called ‘zines’ in modern times with stylish fonts for key information.
Have you come across any of these in your family heirloom? Please do share, if you have.
