Among Nana’s collection, a few of which we digitized, we came across this fascinating click of a tree, car and an institution in the background. According to some friends this photograph is of NCL – National Chemical Laboratories, Pune.
I am not sure whether the tree still stands at the gate. I hope to visit the place to perhaps click the photo at the same spot. The barren landscape around the place has definitely been transformed. NCL was established around 1950s so this photo seems to be of around the same time. NCL is now at the nerve centre of the city and the scientific world. Has the tree survived? The other day someone told me…it has 🙂
I absolutely love the framing and composition of the photograph. He too was a traveller and a tree lover :).
Narayan Rao Kulkarni was there with his camera then to click this stunning photo…was he commissioned to click photos of the making of the NCL?
